"What's on" archive 2002

Saturday 7th December saw a late start at Carbis Bay but on arrival wind was a little off but nicely soarable, bit to much for paragliders though. Roger F had a good time flying off towards St Ives and getting some good height. I had a pleasant 10 mins on the Wills Wing Falcon before launching Alan A for an attempt at soaring . Sadly he drifted just to far out resulting in an extended top to bottom and some good exercise!

Monday 25th November taking advantage of the nice weather the afternoon was spent introducing Pete Coad to the art of Power Flying on his recently purchased Booster unit! A more cautious man than normal he did a good job resulting in good take offs some interesting flying and remarkably good landings, photo's will follow. No late entry for the crash trophy was forthcoming but there is still time!

Sunday 10th November after a dreary morning things got better in the afternoon resulting in Nigel Eagle having two soaring flights on his  new Avian Rio. He did an excellent job and enjoyed good lift up to about 500' getting another 1 hour of airtime. Catherine also appeared to add another 30minutes to her log book on her Wills Wing Eagle. Well done to both of them.

Thursday 17th October due to wind being fairly north abandoned soaring at Perranporth and opted for an afternoon on my Wills Wing Talon at St Agnes with Pete Coad. rewarded with a stunning flight to Mevagissey (33k) under a super sky with excellent visibility. With cloud base at 3500' we had an excellent view up and down the County. Catching a final climb on the south coast was a bonus apart from having to burn it all off again to land! Also well done to Phil Whitelaw who did 19.5k on his Paraglider.

Saturday 12th October : Training at Perranporth, winds lighter than expected with marginal soaring conditions and heavy "traffic". Chris and Alan both of whom are on the verge of soaring did a couple of top to bottoms each to keep their hand in and both did well.

Saturday 28th September : went to Vault Bay to Dual Fly & hopefully introduce Nigel Eagle to his new Avian Rio. Unfortunately Nigel did not fly but we did some "dualling" and had the pleasure of seeing four other ex students increase their airtime including Catherine soaring on  her new Wills Wing Eagle for the first time.
